Removal and installation of a rubber cuff of the steering drive

Removal

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. To remove a tip of steering draft.
  2. To weaken collars on both ends of a cuff. To squeeze tightening collars flat-nose pliers, or to turn off wire collars.
  1. To remove a rubber cuff.

If the cuff was faulty already long time, it is possible to draw a conclusion that dirt got into the mechanism. Dirt together with lubricant works as grinding paste and destroys the steering mechanism. In this case, and also in the presence on a gear lath of traces of a rust, the steering mechanism needs to be repaired (it is carried out in a workshop).

Installation

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. To slightly grease steering draft - With-.
  1. To grease a little a cuff - In - inside on a fillet - E-and to pull on steering draft - With-.
  2. To pull a cuff on a case of a gear lath - And-.
  1. Two times to wrap up a new wire around a cuff on the steering mechanism and 4 - 4,5 times to twist. Instead it is also possible to use a standard hose collar with a bolt.
  1. To fix a cuff on steering draft by a wire collar.

The rubber cuff should not be overwound.

  1. To establish a tip of steering draft.
  2. To lower the car.
  3. To check a convergence, if necessary to adjust.
